New York: Who is Delaney Starcher?: Delaney Starcher is a 5-year-old girl suffering from rare Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. She was diagnosed with the disease on Oct 29th 2009.
Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma is usually diagnosed in children. It forms in the brain stem. Gliomas is found in about 300 children and 100 adults each year in the United States.
The cancer is located in the brain system of Delaney Starcher. It can’t be removed by surgery because of the size and location. The prognosis is very poor and the average survival is 6 to 9 months.
Delaney Starcher relatives have posted a writeup on caringbridge.org asking surfers to pray for a miracle and donate money to support her treatment.
